From childhood, I aspired to be an artist, so naturally I joined the Marine Corps and then made a career in law enforcement! Throughout those years I continued to develop my art. The most notable projects included gifts for friends and family and hand drawn life murals for retiring police officers and others.

About 20 years ago I met an accomplished illustrator named Skip Morrow. I spent a weekend at Skip’s home where he showed me his process for creating his fantastic illustrations using a computer program. 
Skip was an exceptional human being who broke the hearts of all when he passed. He is greatly missed.

A couple years ago my son, Luke, provided me with an iPad, iPencil, and directed me to a program called Procreate. This was exactly what I needed. It provided me with the ability to draw in a manner very similar to using paper and pencil. Since then I’ve been self-teaching digital illustration which is what you see today. Thank you, Luke.

Aside from the time I spend with my wife, Liza, and witnessing the accomplishments of my children and grandchildren, I find nothing more rewarding than hearing the words, “This is the greatest gift I’ve ever received.” Those words are typically spoken by recipients of the art I’ve created that they received.
